The 72nd Bangkok Gem and Jewelry Fair has opened its doors at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, reaffirming its position as the world’s largest gathering of colored gemstone traders. The five-day fair, taking place from September 9 to 13, 2025, and the DITP claims that the fair is expected to generate more than 3.5 billion baht in circulation, highlighting the resilience and global appeal of Thailand’s gems and jewelry sector. Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Wutthikrai Leewiraphan, emphasized during the opening ceremony that gems and jewelry form a complete industry, spanning from upstream mining and cutting to downstream design, manufacturing, and retail. The sector employs more than 800,000 people nationwide and continues to prove its strength despite global headwinds. In the first seven months of 2025 alone, Thailand’s gem and jewelry exports, excluding gold, soared to US$8.18 billion, marking a 60.50 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024 and contributing 4.73 percent to total export value.
