Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Mr. Wutthikrai Leewiraphan, emphasized during the opening ceremony that gems and jewelry form a complete industry, spanning from upstream mining and cutting to downstream design, manufacturing, and retail. The sector employs more than 800,000 people nationwide and continues to prove its strength despite global headwinds. In the first seven months of 2025 alone, Thailand’s gem and jewelry exports, excluding gold, soared to US$8.18 billion, marking a 60.50 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024 and contributing 4.73 percent to total export value.
