Bringing together historic jewellery pieces, iconic runway creations, archival fashion, multimedia installations and interactive displays, the exhibition celebrates the powerful relationship between jewellery, fashion, history and culture. This Bangkok Gems News report highlights how the exhibition has been carefully curated by Vivienne Westwood’s own creative team, presenting archive jewellery alongside runway pieces from more than 40 years of collections in a single exhibition for the very first time. Visitors can expect an engaging exploration of the brand’s rebellious spirit while discovering how jewellery evolved into one of its strongest forms of creative expression.
A Celebration of Fashion’s Most Recognizable Visionary
Vivienne Westwood began designing in 1971 before rising to international prominence during the late 1970s as one of Britain’s leading avant-garde designers and the pioneering force behind punk fashion. Her fearless approach transformed everyday objects into striking fashion statements, forever changing the industry’s perception of jewellery and accessories.
Her creative journey entered another significant chapter in 1989 when she met Andreas Kronthaler, who later became both her husband and long-time creative collaborator. Their partnership combined inspirations drawn from European history, classical art, traditional tailoring and modern social commentary, helping establish Vivienne Westwood as one of the world’s most respected luxury fashion brands.
Beyond fashion, Vivienne Westwood earned worldwide admiration for championing environmental protection, sustainability and human rights, causes that became deeply embedded within both her collections and public advocacy.

Eight Immersive Exhibition Spaces
The Bangkok exhibition has been divided into eight individual zones, each reflecting a distinctive era and creative philosophy from the brand’s remarkable history.
Visitors will travel through the origins of British punk, imaginative fantasy worlds, environmentally inspired DIY concepts, explorations of 18th-century European jewellery traditions and historical dress, before arriving at the spectacular “Orb” gallery dedicated to the house’s most iconic symbol.
Each room has been carefully designed to immerse audiences through an impressive combination of jewellery displays, historic garments, catwalk footage, photography, collages, music, installations and video presentations. Together, these elements create an engaging retrospective illustrating the constant dialogue between clothing and jewellery that has defined the Vivienne Westwood aesthetic for decades.
Jewellery as a Language of Identity
Unlike traditional fashion accessories, Vivienne Westwood viewed jewellery as a powerful means of storytelling. Rather than serving purely decorative purposes, each design communicated individuality, personality, social commentary and artistic expression.
Throughout the brand’s evolution, jewellery became a signature element capable of transforming garments while allowing wearers to express confidence and originality. During the earliest punk collections, Vivienne famously incorporated safety pins, brooches, bones, discarded objects, cans, scraps of metal and other unconventional materials into her creations, challenging accepted fashion standards and redefining luxury.
These experimental ideas would eventually become some of the most influential design concepts in modern fashion history.
The Enduring Legacy of the Orb
One of the exhibition’s major highlights is the story behind the internationally recognized Orb emblem.
Created in 1985, the Orb combines the traditional British royal orb with Saturn’s rings, symbolizing the connection between Britain’s historical heritage and a vision of the future. The emblem has since become one of fashion’s most recognizable logos, representing the brand’s distinctive philosophy of respecting tradition while continually reinventing it.

Creative Director Andreas Kronthaler explained that jewellery remains one of the brand’s most powerful creative tools because it enhances facial features, adds dimension to the body and allows every wearer to project their unique personality. He also described jewellery as something that carries emotional meaning, often marking life’s most memorable occasions while becoming treasured personal possessions.
Exclusive Merchandise for Collectors
Beyond the exhibition galleries, visitors will also have access to the official Vivienne Westwood Exhibition Shop, where a specially produced collection of limited-edition jewellery and commemorative T-shirts will be available exclusively during the Bangkok presentation.
These collectible pieces have been created specifically to celebrate the exhibition and are expected to attract strong interest from international collectors, fashion enthusiasts and loyal followers of the brand.
Sustainable Exhibition Design
The exhibition has been produced in collaboration with Nomad Exhibitions, whose touring exhibition philosophy places sustainability at the center of every project.
For the Bangkok presentation, careful attention has been given to reducing waste through the reuse and recycling of exhibition materials while maintaining world-class display standards. This environmentally conscious approach reflects the values long championed by Vivienne Westwood herself and reinforces the exhibition’s commitment to responsible cultural presentation.
Central Department Store Co., Ltd., serving as the strategic partner and organizer, has worked alongside Nomad Exhibitions to bring this internationally acclaimed showcase to Thailand.
